Local Cultural Production & New Alliances in Wedding

More and more artists and cultural practitioners are shifting the focus of their work toward neighbourhoods and communities – places that create a sense of community and belonging, but can also produce conflict and tension. With this local grounding, the ways of working together are also changing: long-term relationships, mutual trust and shared responsibility are increasingly becoming the foundation of artistic and cultural practice.

• What does it mean to anchor cultural work locally?
• What alliances emerge when artists, neighbourhoods and local initiatives work together to shape their community?
• And what role can art play in strengthening social relationships and creating spaces for exchange and participation?
  

We would like to explore these questions together with the Kiosk of Solidarity at the Berlin Mondiale Exchange.

We invite artists, cultural practitioners, urban practitioners and people actively engaged in their neighbourhoods to share their experiences, learn from one another and engage in conversation. The focus will be on practical experiences from Wedding – particularly around Leopoldplatz – as well as on the question of what conditions local cultural production needs in order to have a lasting impact.
