Berlin Mondiale is a network for cultural education and artistic collaboration across Berlin’s districts. Its aim is to foster sustainable cooperation between cultural institutions, local arts and cultural organisations, cultural education practitioners, and partners from civil society and local communities. Berlin Mondiale works critically with power structures, with an awareness of discrimination, and in a process-oriented way, and sees itself as a learning organisation.

For the “Kiezküche & Begegnungsraum” project at the reception centreat Hasenheide 23–31, we are looking for an engaged and communicative person tocoordinate the project and organise the use of the space. On approximately 130m², a neighbourhood kitchen and a flexible meeting space are being created foractivities in the areas of health, culture, education and community. The aim isto create a low-threshold space for encounters between residents of the receptioncentre and people from the surrounding neighbourhood.

The spaces are open toorganisations, initiatives, migrant self-organisations and committedindividuals from the local community. A particular focus is on cooking, eatingand coming together.

Responsibility

As the central contact person, youwill coordinate and further develop the project and the use of the spaces. Yourresponsibilities will include, in particular:

• Setting up and coordinating the project and organising reliable, needs-based use of the spaces
• Coordinating organisations, initiatives, groups and volunteers, as well as managing bookings and access
• Building and maintaining networks within the local community and   regularly coordinating with volunteer coordinators, neighbourhood     coordinators, local stakeholders and the district office
• Developing and implementing low-threshold activities that bring people together, particularly a regular cooking group
• Developing additional formats such as shared shopping and cooking, recipe workshops, outdoor cooking, and events around cultural and     religious celebrations
• Organising and supporting events, including occasional weekend events
• Supporting the furnishing and commissioning of the spaces
• Multilingual, low-threshold public relations and outreach to esidents and people from the neighbourhood
• Providing low-threshold social work support and being available toresidents regarding social concerns and everyday matters
• Identifying support and counselling needs and referring people, according to their needs, to appropriate specialist counselling services     and social support structures
• Building relationships of trust and promoting residents’ self-efficacy, participation and ability to represent their own interests
• Documentation and contributing to project reporting

Your Profile

We are looking for an open andcommitted person who enjoys bringing people together and helping to shape a newspace for encounters.

Ideally, you bring:

• Experience in project work, networking, community work, neighbourhood work or social work
• Professional expertise in social work or social pedagogy, or comparable practical experience in low-threshold social work
• Experience working with refugees and/or people with a migration background
• Knowledge of social support and counselling structures, as well as a good understanding of support needs and the boundaries of your own role
• Experience organising events, groups or open activities
• Strong communication and cooperation skills, as well as     intercultural competence
• A respectful, discrimination-sensitive and resource-oriented  approach to working with people
• Sensitivity towards people with experiences of displacement; experience or further training in trauma-sensitive approaches is an     advantage
• Ability to build relationships, mediate conflicts and deal professionally with different social and personal challenges
• Independent, structured and reliable working style
• Enjoyment of practical organisation and independent implementation
• Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends
• Good German language skills
• Language skills: Due to the diverse backgrounds of residents in the reception centre and the surrounding neighbourhood, additional language  skills are particularly welcome, especially Arabic, Vietnamese, Turkish, Dari/Farsi or Romanian. Other languages are also welcome.
     
     

Working Conditions

• Part-time position (20 hours/week)
• The position is initially limited until 31 December 2026. Anextension beyond this date is planned, subject to the approval of funding.
• Salary based on TV-L 10, depending on qualifications and experience

What Is Important to Us

The Kiezküche is intended to be anopen and low-threshold space for encounter and participation. Residents of thereception centre and people from the surrounding neighbourhood should have theopportunity to connect with one another, take part in activities and contributetheir own ideas. The position combines project coordination, community work andlow-threshold social work support. This is not about traditional individualcasework, but rather about building relationships, enabling participation,recognising people’s needs and, where necessary, connecting them with existingsupport services. We are looking for someone who can organise and coordinate,while also enjoying talking to people, cooking together, responding to socialconcerns, providing orientation and helping to bring the new space to life.
