Berlin Mondiale is a network for cultural education and artistic collaboration across Berlin’s districts. Our goal is to foster sustainable partnerships between cultural institutions, local arts and cultural initiatives, practitioners in cultural education, and partners from civil society and neighborhood contexts. Berlin Mondiale works in a power-critical, discrimination-sensitive, and process-oriented way and understands itself as a learning organization.

The pilot programme “Culture Connects Neighborhoods – Participation through Cultural Urban Development” is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Housing and runs from March 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027. The programme aims to develop co-creative and community-oriented processes that activate cultural participation in the target areas Wedding 06 (Leopoldplatz) and Kreuzberg-Nord 08.

The Project Manager is responsible for the operational implementation, coordination, and overall steering of the programme and works closely with executive management, neighborhood coordination teams, local stakeholders, and partners in public administration.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the operational project management and coordinate implementation in both target areas

•Steer and align the programme’s activity areas (network development, cultural programming, participatory formats, activation of spaces, and public communication)

•Collaborate with district authorities, neighborhood management teams, civil society organizations, cultural practitioners, and local initiatives

•Organize, support, and document workshops, cultural formats, network meetings, and participatory processes

•Provide close coordination and support to the neighborhood coordination teams

•Plan timelines, activities, and resources, and carry out ongoing project controlling

•Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to the funding body

•Support the development of long-term continuation and transfer strategies beyond 2028

•Maintain project documentation, tracking tools, and working materials

Position Details

•Part-time position (30 hours per week)

•Initially fixed-term until December 31, 2026, with a planned extension until December 31, 2027 subject to funding approval

•Salary in line with German public sector pay scale TV-L E11 (depending on qualifications and experience)

•Work locations: Berlin (Neukölln, Wedding, and Kreuzberg-Nord)

Your Profile

•University degree (e.g. in cultural studies, social sciences, humanities, urban development, architecture, or a comparable field)

•Several years of project management experience, ideally in culture, urban development, community work, or social infrastructure

•Knowledge of participatory, co-creative, and neighborhood-based approaches

•Experience working with public administration, funding bodies, and civil society organizations

•Good German language skills (spoken and written) are required; additional languages are an asset

•Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a structured manner

•Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team, and a strong sense of responsibility

•Sensitivity to diversity, social inequality, and discrimination-critical approaches in project work
